As the desperate situation in Haiti continues, we at J Street are moved by the outpouring of support and aid from around the globe – including from Israel, which sent a 220-member rescue team to assist with the relief effort.  We wanted to make sure to provide some ways in which you can support the disaster relief efforts as well. Hey everyone! The holidays are over and the new year has begun…new classes, new professors, hopefully some new friends and guess what…NEW SCHEDULING ISSUES! Haahha. Well it's really no big deal. The fact is that I cant decide whether to take a fun class that requires lots of reading that I wont mind doing, OR a class that is closer to my interests for my major that also requires reading, but of a more intense sort.

A few weeks ago, we drew your attention to students who are fighting against coal power on their campuses: University of Kentucky students voted against the building of a “Wildcat Coal Lodge” dorm that was sponsored by Alliance Coal, and in Massachusetts, students slept out in the cold on the Boston Commons to register their support for a bill that would power the state with 100% clean energy. This week, an article in the Chronicle of Higher Education follows up on the issue, noting that “scores of institutions are grappling with coal's problematic public image and very real environmental impacts,” as students pressure the administration to find alternatives and federal legislators become more receptive to cap-and-trade limits on carbon dioxide pollution. The article also notes that the President's Climate Commitment, with its ambitious GHG reduction targets, is incompatible with burning coal

The Psychology Library closed December 18, 2009, and by January 13, 2010, all materials were moved.  The collection was divided among the Biological Sciences Library, Hardin Library for the Health Sciences, and the Library Annex.  Except as noted below, the Psychology Library materials have been moved to the Hardin Library for the Health Sciences, where they are located on the first floor. Is there a librarian for Psychology and Education students and faculty? Yes.  Dottie Persson will have offices in Seashore Hall (E201 SSH, 335-3080) and the Lindquist Center (N426 LC, 335-5232) to serve the Psychology Department and the College of Education.  As a result of closing some branch libraries, the library system is joining other academic institutions in moving to the concept of an embedded librarian, a librarian who performs research consultations, reference, user instruction and collection management in an electronic environment and who responds to faculty, student and staff who report library related technical or service problems
