J Street Responds to EU Conclusions on Middle East Peace Process
J Street welcomes the Council of the European Union’s conclusions on the Middle East peace process issued earlier today, underscoring the urgent need to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian and Israeli-Arab conflicts peacefully and diplomatically through two states and a regional peace. The resolution serves as a thoughtful, thorough and on-point assessment of what must happen to move toward this goal, and we urge the Obama administration to consider whether it can provide a basis for forging broad, international consensus around next steps forward toward a comprehensive, regional peace

J Street Calls for Stronger American Engagement to Stop Provocative Actions in Jerusalem
J Street Executive Director Jeremy Ben-Ami released the following statement today: J Street is deeply concerned about increasing tension in Jerusalem and provocative actions being taken by the Israeli government and settler groups there that threaten prospects for agreement on the city’s status and borders as part of a negotiated two-state solution. Jerusalem’s ultimate status and borders should be negotiated and resolved as part of an agreement between Israeli and Palestinian authorities. We believe such an agreement will ultimately recognize that Israel’s capital is Jerusalem and that the capital of the future Palestinian state will be East Jerusalem.

J Street Reacts to Israeli Settlement Announcement
Today, J Street Executive Director Jeremy Ben-Ami released the following statement after Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s announcement regarding West Bank settlement construction: J Street shares the Obama administration’s hope that today’s announcement by the Israeli government on settlement construction will allow a focus in the coming months on establishing a two-state solution and advancing toward comprehensive Israeli-Arab peace. Senator Mitchell is correct to note that in halting some settlement construction for a limited time, this Israeli government has taken a step forward. However, this is not the full settlement freeze called for by the United States and does not address the deteriorating situation in East Jerusalem.

Jeremy Ben-Ami responds to Abe Foxman’s Palin comments
Jeremy Ben-Ami, Executive Director of J Street, sent the following letter to Abe Foxman, Director of the Anti-Defamation League, in response to Foxman’s comments to the JTA News Service. Dear Abe, I am deeply troubled by your attack on J Street for opposing Sarah Palin’s unqualified support for settlement expansion on the West Bank. Last I checked, it has been United States policy under every President since 1967 to oppose the development and expansion of settlements on the West Bank – and, yes, J Street along with a sizeable portion of the Israeli and American Jewish public also opposes settlement expansion

J Street responds to Sarah Palin’s comments on settlements
Jeremy Ben-Ami, Executive Director of J Street, issued the following statement in response to Sarah Palin’s comments to ABC News’ Barbara Walters: J Street rejects Sarah Palin’s comments attacking President Obama’s sensible policy on Israeli settlements in the West Bank yesterday during an ABC News interview with Barbara Walters. Palin’s pandering to her right-wing base comes at the expense of the security of the State of Israel, the lives of those actually living the conflict, and the fundamental American interest in achieving a two-state solution in the near term. Her words reveal a glaring ignorance of damaging facts and a callous disregard of past and present U.S
